What is the bartender tip for a Gin & Tonic?
The classic ratio is 1:3 (50 ml gin to 150 ml tonic). Ice-cold tonic and ice to the brim keep the drink cold and fizzy. A tall, narrow glass holds carbonation better than a balloon glass, which releases aroma — and bubbles — faster. Pour the tonic down the side; over-stirring makes the drink flat. One or two dashes of aromatic bitters add depth without turning it into a different drink. Cucumber pairs with herbal gins; lemon is the classic.
