New York Sour

New York Sour is a sour, citrus and creamy cocktail made with Wine and Whiskey, with high flavor complexity.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml whiskey
  • 25 ml lime juice
  • 25 ml simple syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • Dry red wine
  • Ice

Method

  1. Add the ingredients (except the wine and ice) to a shaker and shake hard — shaking without ice (dry shake) emulsifies the egg white better, giving a dense foam.
  2. Add ice and shake again to chill.
  3. Double strain into a rocks glass with ice.
  4. Slowly pour the dry red wine over the back of a bar spoon to create the floating layer beneath the foam.
